The Sue Steinberg Educational Scholarship

Sue Steinberg was a beloved member of Friends of Port Rowing who passed away in 2019. Her family and friends wanted to find a way to honor her and carry on her memory. It was important that this endeavor highlighted what Sue loved and valued, and would leave an enduring imprint of her essence. So, with the help of Sue’s family and Friends of Port Rowing, the Sue Steinberg Educational Scholarship was created.

Sue began rowing at Hungington as a junior and senior in high school. She went on to row on the women's team at Syracuse University where she was the co-captain of the team her senior year. Sue loved to pass on her love and passion for the water to others, especially some adults and young people who showed an interest in learning the sport. At Port Rowing she was active member of the masters program and an integral part of starting the inclusion program that is still active today.
