About Inclusion Rowing

At Port Rowing, everyone has a seat. That holds true for teens with special needs. Our Inclusion Rowing Program is a mix of mentors from the varsity teams and rowers with special needs joining together as one squad.

Rowing is a repetitive, rhythmic motion that improves the cardiovascular fitness, strength, and mental acuity of an individual. It also improves the balance and coordination once the water is introduced.

In Tier 1, the participants learn the basics of the rowing stroke on land, combined with sport specific strength and conditioning. Upon approval by the guardian, coach, and Port Rowing mentor, the rower can enter tier 2 and is introduced to the water in a training shell.

We offer opportunities to compete at our home regattas, Row for Autism and Gold Coast Classic.
